Network & Infrastructure Monitoring
Know about the problem before your users do.
Overview
Businesses and schools run on more systems than ever, spread across sites and supplied by different vendors, each with its own console or none at all. Nobody has time to check them all, every day, so problems tend to be found by the people they affect. Altitudo brings every system into one dashboard, organised by site and by type of device, watched every minute, with plain-English alerts to the people who can fix them. The service only ever reads from your systems, connects outbound only and keeps your data in Australia.
Found by us, not reported by your users
Most IT problems are discovered by the person they affect: the Wi-Fi drops during a client meeting or an online exam, a backup failed three weeks ago, the UPS in the comms room ran flat. Monitoring turns each of those into an alert with a severity, raised the moment something fails or starts to degrade, so the IT team hears first.
Thresholds are tuned to your environment during a two-week baseline, from Monday-morning Wi-Fi peaks to overnight backup windows, so alerts mean something. Planned work goes in a maintenance window, and a burst such as a firmware rollout is summarised once instead of producing dozens of emails.
Organised by site and by device type
Every device is placed in a site and in a device type, so the same data can be read either way: everything at one site, or every UPS across the organisation. An organisation-wide overview shows open problems worst first, then each area has its own section for network, Wi-Fi, servers, cloud and backups.
Monthly reporting covers availability by site and by type, incidents, the longest outages and capacity trends, written for leadership as well as for the IT team.
Security by design: Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability
The service is strictly read-only. Every credential is a dedicated read-only account or API key, so the platform cannot change a firewall rule, a switch or a camera. Only technical health is collected: no footage, no audio and no customer, student, staff or cardholder records.
A small collector at each site makes one outbound, encrypted connection to the platform in AWS Sydney, so no inbound ports are opened at your sites. Collectors buffer data through internet outages, and the platform alerts on its own silence, so a quiet dashboard is never mistaken for a healthy one.
Live in about six weeks
A discovery workshop lists your sites, systems and what matters most. A collector goes onto each site and every system is onboarded with read-only access, core infrastructure first. Two weeks of baselining then tunes thresholds to your normal before dashboards, alerts and reports are signed off and your team is trained. After that we run, patch and back up the platform and add new devices as you add them.
For businesses and for schools
For a business, that means head office, branches, the warehouse and the cloud on one screen, with alerts that name the site and the device, and reporting your leadership can read.
For schools, it also covers the systems unique to a campus, such as PA, gate access and CCTV, organised by campus so a multi-site school can see each one at a glance.
What's included
Internet links and firewalls
Latency, packet loss and failover on every link. Firewall health, HA state, VPN tunnels, licences and certificate expiry.
Switching and Wi-Fi
Every switch and access point, with uplinks, PoE and errors, plus why a device could not connect, stage by stage.
Servers, VMware and storage
Hosts, VMs, datastores, snapshots and hardware health, with SAN and NAS capacity and when it will be full.
Backups
The last result of every job and the time since each VM was last backed up, so a failed backup is never a surprise.
CCTV, door access and building systems
Recorders, cameras, access control and PA systems kept online. Technical health only: never footage, audio or cardholder data.
UPS and power
On battery, runtime remaining, battery health and load, so a power cut does not take the network with it.
Organised by site and device type
An organisation-wide overview, then drill-down by site or by type, with monthly availability reporting for leadership.
Alerts people act on
Plain English, naming the site and device, sent to the right person, with an all-clear when it is fixed.
What you get
- Problems found by us, not reported by your staff
- One failure produces one alert, with thresholds tuned to your environment
- Strictly read-only and outbound-only, hosted in AWS Sydney
- Live in about six weeks, and fully managed after that
Common questions
What does the monitoring cover?
Internet links, firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi, VMware and physical servers, SAN and NAS storage, backups, Microsoft 365 and cloud services, CCTV, PA systems, door and gate access, and UPS. Coverage of third-party systems such as CCTV, PA and access control depends on the health data their vendors expose, which we confirm during discovery.
Which brands do you support?
Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, HPE Aruba, Cisco Meraki, Ubiquiti, HPE, Dell, VMware and Veeam, among others. Where a vendor offers a secure read-only API we use it in preference to older protocols, and SNMPv3 elsewhere.
Can the platform change anything on our network?
No. It uses dedicated read-only accounts and API keys, so it observes and never changes configuration, firewall rules, cameras or door controllers.
Do you collect CCTV footage or personal information?
No. Only technical health is collected, such as whether a camera is reachable or a recorder is running out of storage. No video, audio, customer, student, staff or cardholder records are collected, and the data is held in AWS Sydney.
Do we need to open firewall ports?
No inbound ports. Each site runs a small collector virtual machine that makes one outbound, encrypted connection to the platform.
Who receives the alerts?
The people you choose. Alerts can be routed by site and by device type, so a CCTV issue can also reach your CCTV contractor without exposing anything else. High and Disaster problems are emailed when they open and when they are resolved, and Microsoft Teams or SMS can be added.
How is monitoring priced?
A one-off implementation followed by a monthly fee for the managed platform, sized to your sites and systems. Pricing is confirmed after a discovery session.
Is monitoring only for schools?
No. It is built for any organisation with more systems than its IT team can watch, across offices, branches, warehouses and campuses. Schools get the same platform, with campus systems such as PA and gate access included.
